After being out at a party on her own, and too intoxicated to return to her dorm on her own, partygoers let her leave the party in the arms of another student, Paul, who had offered to bring her back to her room. She was never seen again. Years later, with new leads, police were able to continue their investigation and make arrests in connection with Smart’s case.

On May 25, 1996, Kristin attended an off-campus party with friends but never returned to her dorm. Despite extensive search efforts, Kristin's body was never found and her case went cold. That was until 2019 when Chris Lambert started a true crime documentary-style podcast about her murder. As he investigated Kristin's case, new witnesses came forward and new information was discovered. Join us as we discuss how a cold case was solved through independent investigative journalism. Nearby, Mary had just rented a new house but the problem was that dang alarm. It would go off every day at 4:20 AM and she didn’t know where it was.
But strangely it wasn’t coming inside the house. But outside. Sounded like it was buried. But who would buy a stopwatch? '

A recent search found “a homemade CD he made of himself having sex with women going in and out of consciousness. There is also a Google search for “real drunken girl drugged and raped while passed out.” Paul Flores, 44, is the prime suspect in the disappearance and presumed death of 19-year-old Smart in 1996 when both were students at California State Polytechnic University.
Flores and his father, Ruben Flores, were arrested in April after investigators searched their homes. Investigators said they found traces of human blood on a patch of soil that had been disturbed underneath Ruben Flores’ house, surrounded by a lattice. A tenant at the property told authorities Ruben Flores always kept the area locked with a padlock. Smart’s parents have filed a lawsuit against Flores’s mother and her boyfriend, alleging that they helped move their daughter’s body.
