This is the Laura Owens story.
In part one of the Laura Owens story, Megan and Amy trace how a real estate introduction in Scottsdale, Arizona between Owens and reality TV star Clayton Echard spiraled into one of the strangest legal sagas in recent memory.
Laura Owens grew up in San Francisco, the daughter of longtime talk radio host Ron Owens of KGO, and co-hosted the self-help podcast Nobody Told Me with her mother. Clayton Echard came to Arizona for a fresh start after The Bachelor season 26, where his fantasy suite honesty and Susie Evans' finale decision earned him the label "the most hated Bachelor." Days after a single night together, Owens told him she was pregnant, and months later she filed a paternity case in Maricopa County Family Court.
Then a stranger's DM pointed Clayton toward a lawsuit involving Greg Gillespie and attorney Greg Woodnick, and toward an earlier San Francisco relationship with Michael Marancini: stories of claimed pregnancies, and an order of protection that sound eerily familiar. How did a private dispute become a public spectacle with a Justice for Clayton following? Part one sets the stage.
