On December 22, 2024, 57-year-old Debrina Kawam was set on fire while sleeping on a train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn, New York. The suspect, 33-year-old Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, approached Kawam and ignited her clothing with a lighter.
